Volunteers to work with 16 to 19 year old career minded students
March 12th, 2010

Do you feel that you could inspire students to achieve their full education and employment potential? Do you feel that you have success stories that would motivate young people to raise their aspirations? Then St Thomas More Catholic College in Longton wants to hear from you!

The college have recently become part of the prestigious Career Academy initiative in which our sixth form students will study an academic curriculum complemented by real-life business and employability skills. The Career Academy programme is currently supported by 700 organisations around the UK with 3,000 employee volunteers.

They are looking to recruit local business people to work with us in various ways;

•    To work as mentors acting as a role model and advisor to our students
•    To offer guru lectures to students sharing success stories or employability skills
•    To offer work place visits to help students experience the real life world of business
•    To sit on our advisory board and help make decisions about the programme
•    To offer internships to students

If you feel that you or your company could support us in any of these roles, St Thomas More would like to hear from you. Your involvement with the programme could help to raise your profile within the local community and help to develop a pipeline of highly employable candidates from diverse backgrounds for future recruitment.

The college is holding a business launch event at 8am on Thursday 29th April at St Thomas More Catholic College.

For more information on the event or the career academy programme itself contact Miss Katie Wood Career Academy Coordinator or Mrs Gill Miller Career Academy Administrator on 01782 234734. They look forward to hearing from you!
